First Class love painting and experimenting with colours. There are so many hues you can make by combining different amounts of primary colours to make secondary colours. We then mixed different shades by adding a tiny bit of black paint to various hues. It has a really cool effect, as you can see from the pictures!
For Valentine’s Day we made cards and experimented by painting with tints (adding white) and we used colours from Picasso’s Rose Period: pinks, purples, reds and corals. Today, we made Picasso style portraits and learned about complementary colours. They’re the colours at the opposite sides of the colour wheel and using them creates a really striking contrast.
We enjoy looking at one another’s art and we definitely agree with Picasso when he said:
Every child is an artist.
