President Michael D. Higgins’ visit to Limerick

LSP received an invitation to the Milk Market on Monday 29th September 2014 to celebrate the conferring of the Honorary Freedom of Limerick on the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins.

Our sixth class will represent the Limerick School Project as they wrote to the President in June inviting him to visit our school. Unfortunately, his work commitments will prevent him visiting us so this is the next best thing.

A further honour was bestowed on us as one of the pupils in Sixth class will actually meet the President in the afternoon. A group of people involved in Limerick City of Culture were selected to gather together in the President’s company and the project Sixth class were involved in with Anne Marie Morrins was one of the few projects chosen.

There’s great excitement about who will be the lucky pupil.

We are part of the Music Generation workshops for the school year. The children from 1st class to 6th class will take part in three workshops each school term in the Halla. The first workshop will begin next Monday.

 Redemptorist Centre of Music

Lessons will resume as per normal from this coming Tuesday onwards. We will be in contact with the former and new students in regards to their lesson times this week. Lesson will still be at the rate €5 per week. Students are still obliged to pay if they miss a lesson or are sick because the payment is for keeping their slot. Any more information they can contact the Redemptorist Centre of Music office at 061 314 924 or redscentreofmusic@gmail.com. Any students who are still interested but missed the trial period must contact the Centre to arrange an alternative trial.

An outbreak of Head lice has been detected in some classes this week. Please check your child’s hair this evening.

PTA NEWS:Can You Lend A Hand? The Parent Teacher Association is building a database of Parent/Guardian Volunteers that can be called upon for various events  in the school year. If you think you are able to dedicate some time  (no matter how small) to help out at an event we’d love to hear from you. Please check you child’s schoolbag next week. We will be sending home a letter/form regarding volunteering and would appreciate as many names as possible. Filling in this form is not a commitment to attend a specific event; rather it’s just letting the PTA know that you are available to be contacted in the run up to an event to see if you are in a position to lend a hand. Many hands make light work. Your cooperation is very much appreciated.
