Minister visit to the school

The PTA would like to thank everyone involved in the organising of the minister’s visit to the school this week.  The visit was a great success and the children really enjoyed meeting her, especially when she gave them a free homework day.  It was great to see past pupils and parents present on the day and the singing was brilliant.

Tai Chi Classes Beginning February 26th

The Parent Teacher Association has organised for a Tai Chi Instructor, John Sheehan, to come to the school and give Tai Chi classes to all the children.  This will begin on Thursday 26th February and will run for 8-10 weeks.  We have included a short piece on what Tai Chi is and what to expect from the classes.  There is also links to two YouTube clips that further give insight into Tai Chi and its benefits for children.  On the day of the classes, the children will need to wear loose clothing and soft shoes, the pumps that they are actually using for the Lime Tree concert would be ideal to use or else a pair of runners.  The classes will take place during school hours

Tai Chi is an ancient Chinese of form of relaxed movement for children and adults. It helps improve balance, posture, flexibility, body awareness, relaxed movement, breathing, concentration, attention span and learning in a positive and fun environment.

The classes for the children in Limerick School Project will include mobility of all body joints through a large range of movement, ‘fun’ moving and standing balancing exercises including specific ‘Reeling Silk’ exercises and learning a Tai Chi form.  Many of the terms and animal names of each posture will become familiar. The pupils will gradually progress from single basic postures to moving smoothly and continuously with minimum effort. The moves learned can be practised for very short time spans of a few minutes to a full class. The fun can be shared with other pupils, teachers and the family when at home. It is a lifelong activity with many health and wellbeing benefits.

Lime Tree Concert “Magic of the Musicals” – Volunteers needed

The school concert event is happening on Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th of February. Tickets can be bought from the Lime Tree Theatre- book soon as tickets are going fast.

The PTA will be holding a raffle and selling a commemorative program on both nights.  All funds will go towards helping with covering the costs of the event.

We will be looking for volunteers to help on both nights with selling both programs and raffle tickets from 6.15-7pm and then at the mid-interval of the concert.

Helping out will not interfere with seeing the concert itself as there will be no selling happening when the concert is on.
If you can help on either night please contact the PTA at pta.lsp@gmail.com

RAFFLE PRIZES – Can you donate a prize for the raffle?

We are still looking for donations of prizes for the Raffle which will be held during the school show The Magic of the Musicals., (Limetree Theatre, Feb 17th and 18th). We are asking parents do you have a business, or a connection which could donate to this raffle. E.g. a voucher, or an item, or a service etc. You or your business will be thanked on the night and in the show programme.

If you think you can donate you can contact the PTA at pta.lsp@gmail.com.

Or, if you prefer, leave your details with Louise and we will get in touch with you.
