6th class attended the launch of the Bualadh Bos children’s festival in the Lime Tree Theatre on Monday 15th September. They met Minister Jan O’Sullivan, watched a short performance by Branar Téatar na Pháistí. The pupils had completed an art project with Anne-Marie Morrins in 5th class and their work is on display in Todd’s bow, off William Street. Emily McNamara, on behalf of 6th class was presented with a book of their drawings at the launch. The class was shown on news2day on RTE last Monday 15th @ 5.30pm and Aoife Doyle, 6th is in a photo on the front of Tuesday’s Limerick Chronicle. Well done to all.

After reading the novel Flat Stanley by Jeff Brown third class made their own Flat Stanleys.  We then sent our Flat Stanleys off on their holidays around Ireland.  They will be visiting counties such as Donegal, Leitrim, Monaghan, Tipperary and many more.  They will be returned to us in a couple of weeks and we are really looking forward to reading all about the wonderful adventures they had on their holidays.  Yesterday we said goodbye to our Flat Stanleys and we went to the Post Office and sent them off on their travels.  We wish them well and look forward to their return.

Post Office Savings Stamps

Our local post office in 90, Henry Street has offered to start a savings scheme ‘Saving with Cyril’ on a weekly basis. Melissa a parent of a past pupil will call weekly, on a Thursday, with the stamps and books. This is a great way to get children saving and is reminiscent of the Sammy Stamp saving scheme we had in the early days of the school. Any family wishing to avail of this service will need to open an account for the child in the post office beforehand. Documents needed will be the child’s birth cert, PPSN number and photo ID, utility bill and PPSN of parent. Any further questions will be answered in the Post Office, 90 Henry St. There are some post office account application forms available in the office. Please let Louise know if you are interested. Melissa will be in school again next Thursday.
