An nuacht – 29th January 2015

Volume 15, Issue 20

January 29th 2015

School is closed on Thursday 19th & Friday 20th February. Mid-term break.

Term 2 White Envelope Week (WEW) is coming. It will run from Monday 9th – Friday 13th February. Letters will be going home in school bags next week

Limerick Leader photos:

Some of our 5th class children were asked to pose with ‘We’re Limerick and Proud’ signs for a supplement in the Limerick Leader this weekend.

On Wednesday, the same Leader photographer came to the school to take photos to promote our concert in the Lime Tree. These should be in the Limerick Leader early next week. Look out for them!

Enable Ireland:

The School Council members gathered on Wednesday to present a cheque for €515 to Enable Ireland Children’s services. Most of this was raised on the ‘Christmas jumper for charity’ day before the Christmas holidays.

Music Generation:

The Music Generation group of musicians are back working with First to Sixth class once a month. They made a plan of work with each class group which will be carried out during the term. There’s a music treat in store soon for Junior and Senior Infants.

Collecting children after school:

We must remind parents that children must be collected when school finishes at 2.10pm or when clubs finish at 3.10pm. It’s unfair on the child to be left after everyone else has gone home, as well as being unsafe, as the school is not responsible for children after that time.

Peace Proms will take place on Saturday 28th February in UL. The LSP School choir will be taking part in the 8pm performance. Tickets can be booked on the peace proms website  and family tickets are 50 euro for 4, Tickets are being sold quickly so if parents/family are interested they need to book soon.

LSP 25th Anniversary Concert

Every class is working very hard on their singing and dancing routines for the concert in the Lime Tree on 17th and 18th February (Tuesday and Wednesday). All the costumes will be provided by Gerdi McGlynn, director. She has asked that all pupils wear black pumps and white socks for the performances. Some pupils may already have them but, if not, they are available from Shoe Zone (William Street and Crescent Shopping centre) for €2.99. These will be useful for PE and basketball days afterwards.

Don’t forget to book your tickets online at (24 hours a day); From the Lime Tree Box Office from 2pm to 5.30pm (Monday to Friday);  On the phone 061 774774 (12 noon to 5.30pm) or from 69 O’Connell Street (the former Belltable) 12 noon to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday.

Beanbag Appeal.

We’re looking for two large beanbags, large enough for a 12 year old child to sit on. Is there one in your house catching dust or decorating the corner of your bedroom that you could donate to the school? It would be greatly appreciated.

We do not mind getting the odd lunch for a child, but we would appreciate money being dropped in for it the next day.
