—–Some News From Yusha in 3rd Class——

I enjoy playing tennis, and I play green ball level. I played lots of tournaments over the summer in Cobh, Cork, Waterford, Limerick, Dublin, Clonmel and Galway. Monaleen is my tennis club, and I also train with the Munster Squad. I train three times a week. I love tennis because it is fun and I make lots of new friends.

Please fill in and return the permission slip attached to the Nuacht.

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION NEWS

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) would like to extend a warm welcome back to all children, parents and staff, particularly to the new cohort of Jnr infant families and any new families to the Limerick School Project. The PTA committee works as a representative body for the parental school community, organising extracurricular activities and events at the school for the children and their families. Look out for our information section in the weekly Nuacht as we use it to give notice of upcoming events to the school community. We also use it to give a monthly update of the ongoing work of the committee. Further, keep a look out for information on the blackboard in the school foyer and for the flyers and posters that we will put up around the school promoting events etc.
The PTA both welcomes and seeks parental involvement to help in the running of its events thus if you are interested in helping out get in touch with us at our email address pta.lsp@gmail.com . There are a number of ways to support/help:

Put yourself forward to become a member of the PTA committee

Put your name forward as a volunteer that can help out on the day of an event

Email us with ideas for events, talks, workshops etc

Just come and support the events across the year

Parent Teacher Association AGM

The PTA will hold its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday 24th September at the school (time to be confirmed). The purpose of the meeting is for the committee to give a review of the years’ work carried out by the Committee to the parental community. We would encourage as many parents as possible to come along on the night. The present committee will also stand down at the AGM and a new committee will be elected, thus if you are interested in being a member of the committee it is important that you come along on the night. The Agenda for the AGM will follow soon.

PTA Parent Volunteer Database

Last year, we started a “Parent Volunteer” database. The purpose of this email list was to create a database of names of parents who had informed the PTA that they would be available to help out, if need be, on the day of an event. Again this year we are looking to add to this list thus If you think you would be able to give some time (remember, no block of time is too small) at some stage through the school year, to help out at an event, we are seeking your contact details. Remember, offering your details is not a commitment to being at a specific event(s) to help out, rather it’s just letting us (the committee) know that you are available to be contacted in the run up to an event. You can email us your details at pta.lsp@gmail.com or from next week there will be flyers and a drop box in the front foyer of the school.
PTA Coffee Mornings

The PTA holds a number of coffee mornings across the school year. This is a space where parents can come together and have a cuppa and a chat together in the school. They are usually held on a Friday morning from 8.30-10.00 am outside the staff room. Last year the PTA recognised that for parents of the Junior Infants it can be difficult to get to know each other (as it can be for any new parents across the years) thus it was decided that the first coffee morning of the year would be for the parents of Jnr infant children and any other new parents to the LSP School. The remainder of the coffee mornings will be open to all parents in the school. This process worked very well last year therefore we will follow it again this year. Keep an eye out in the Nuacht, on the Blackboard, and on our posters, informing you when the coffee mornings will occur.
