Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) is a part of SPHE and provides children with structured opportunities to develop the knowledge, attitudes, values, beliefs and practical skills necessary to establish and sustain healthy personal relationships as children and, subsequently, as adults. In our school, as a community, we teach RSE in accordance with a policy agreed between all stakeholders, which meets the requirements of the SPHE curriculum and the recommended programme for RSE from the Department of Education. You can have a look at our agreed RSE policy, which is inclusive and equality-based, by clicking this link. Our policy will tell you when we teach RSE, how we teach RSE and the resources we use to support the teaching of it. We notify parents by email the week before we start RSE lessons to ensure that teaching in this area is a shared endeavour between home and school.

We also recommend that you take a look at some of the key resources for parents, provided by the HSE, in relation to talking to your child about RSE. Such resources foster healthy attitudes to relationships and ensure that your children always feel comfortable talking to you about issues that may be on their mind.
