Happy Holidays to all. Keep safe wherever you go.

As the school year comes to a close, many thanks to every member of the LSP community from staff members to parents to children who have all contributed to making this a fantastic year.

Firstly, I’d like to acknowledge the hard work & efforts put in by the class teachers: Jenni, Emer, Lorraine, Antonia, Cathy, Mairead, Claire, Collette, Karen, Liam & Vivienne. Support teachers: Mary, Lise, Ger & Orla Moloney, and of course Louise & Ger who between them, keep us all on track. I’d like to give a special mention to Jenni who as Deputy Principal has been a great support to me in my first year as Principal. The whole staff have rowed in behind me to help keep the LSP, the special school it is and I’m grateful.

The school community has worked extremely hard this year to make our 25th Anniversary celebrations a great success.

Thank you to the Board of Management for giving every pupil in the school the opportunity to perform in ‘The Magic of the Musicals’ in the Lime Tree Theatre and to be part of creating a beautiful book ‘The Next 25 Years & Beyond’. These memories & books will stay with our pupils for a long time.

The Parent Teacher Association have worked tirelessly this year to organise so many events. The Doculog is testament to all the events & learning opportunities provided by them. In addition their support, efforts in organizing the programme, the raffle for the musical is very much appreciated. Sincere thanks to the members of both these voluntary committees. The time and effort you all put in has enhanced the school appearance for all the children.

Thanks to all the parents of the school for all you do at home, in school on behalf of your child & the entire school community. We are very fortunate to have such a fantastic group of parents.

And above all, many thanks to the children of LSP for making my first year as principal a good one!

We will finish up the year tomorrow, Friday 26th June with a whole school assembly beginning at 11am.

Children will be dismissed at noon.

The variety show organized by the school council was a fantastic success. Each class from senior infants to 6th chose 2 acts to represent them. These acts were voted on by the class pupils. We were entertained by musicians playing piano, violin, trumpet, magic, comedy, dancers, singers, poetry. Juniors & Jenni did a great rendition of the Yodelling Song with lots of actions. It was a great show of talent from our pupils and was hugely entertaining.

Please let us know asap if your child will not be returning to LSP in August 27th.

Parent Teacher Association News

Last Friday the 19th of June saw LSP round of its 25th year celebrations with a wonderful Yard Party hosted by the Parent Teacher Association. All the children at LSP were thoroughly entertained by Puppeteers from Honest Arts, Aaron the Balloon Man, Leon the Magician, and a troupe of face painters. There were giant games of Snakes and Ladders, Checkers, Snap, and hopscotch in which the children themselves were the pieces. Chalk drawing that started out on the yard ground rapidly moved to the walls of the yard to the delight of the children. Treats included a bag of party nibbles, popcorn, candy floss and to top it all off an ice cream van handed out 99’s to all.

Thanks to all the Parent Volunteers who turned up on the day and helped to turn the yard into a truly festive zone. For all the commitment and hard work, it is very much appreciated and was evident in the delight of all the children.

Check out photos of the day on the LSP website:

Final reminder to return your Expression of Interest forms to the box in the school foyer. Alternatively you can Express your Interest online.

Goto: www.let2ndlevel.com

We hope this campaign will continue throughout the summer months. If you have friends with children in other primary schools or crèches in limerick why not ask them to fill out the form online. Remember even children who have not started primary school yet can be included on the form. Filling out a form is not a commitment to enroll your child but rather an opportunity to call for more choice when it comes to second level education in limerick.

Animal Magic, the wild animal rescue centre from Kilmallock, visited LSP on Wednesday 10th June. All classes had a wonderful time learning about wild animals and birds and how to protect them. The excitement was palpable as many got the chance to handle a variety of different animals including: barn owls, long eared owls, dragon lizards, rabbits and a boa constrictor!
