WINTER FAIR DATE: 1PM – 4:30PM PM SUNDAY 6TH DECEMBER
ON THE DAY OF THE FAIR WE NEED PEOPLE TO:
- Help Set up the Fair (from 10pm on the morning of Dec 6th)
- Work on the Stalls and the Winter Fair Restaurant (1 to 4.30pm)
- Take the Fair down (4.30 to 5.30)

ON FRIDAY 4TH DECEMBER WE ARE MAKING CHRISTMAS WREATHS TO SELL AT THE WINTER FAIR
Friday 4th Dec, 8.30am, outside LSP staffroom.
We are looking for donations of greenery next week – Holly, Ivy, Pine, Fir, Spruce, Herbs, Rosemary, Laurel, Bay, etc.
Please leave in the boxes provided in the school foyer next week.
If you’re free that morning please drop in. Bring a friend!
IN THE NEXT TWO WEEKS EACH CLASS IS MAKING A CLASSROOM CRAFT CAN YOU HELP IN YOUR CHILD’S CLASS?
Can you help the teachers with the Classroom Craft? Every child will make its own craft, which will be sold at the Winter Fair. Check in with your child’s teacher and see how they are getting on. They might need your help. Just ask you class teacher if they need a hand!
DON’T HAVE TIME TO VOLUNTEER BUT STILL WANT TO HELP?
You could donate books, bric-a-brac and small toys to be sold at the Winter Fair. We are looking for trinkets, ornaments, small toys, candles, books, toys, unwanted gifts etc. All in good condition!
You could donate Homemade Crafts/Decorations, Jams, Chutneys.
Or you could bake Cakes, Tarts & Breads, Scones, Salads, etc These will be sold at the Cake Stall and in the Winter Fair restaurant. Please bring any baked goods in unsliced on the day of the Winter Fair.
All funds raised go towards extra-curricular activities and resources for all the children at LSP.

Internet Safety Talk: Reminder that internet safety talk with Dr Maureen Griffin will take place on Wednesday 3rd June. There will be crèche facilities available if there is enough interest. Please let us know in advance if you’d like to avail of the crèche.
The children made €627.58, selling cakes at the Spring Fair last week, thanks to all those who baked & bought cakes & buns.
The school choir will perform next Thursday 28th at 1.30pm in school hall for 1st to 6th class. Parents are welcome; particularly those of children who might like to join next year.
UL Sports Day 2015
LSP athletes represented the school at the Primary School Sports in UL yesterday. We are very proud of all the pupils who took part from 1st to 6th class and especially proud of the boy’s team who came 1st and brought a trophy back to school. Well done everyone.
UL was an awesome time. There were boys and girls. The boys had won the running title for LSP. Everybody was super. By Anthony, 4th class
Our girl’s basketball team went to UL to compete against Salesians Primary School last Thursday. We were beaten 16-11. They were really tough but we played really well. We got 2nd place medals. Even though we lost it was great to get to the final. We came 2nd in the Limerick Primary School League. By Alexa 4th class

Spring Plant and Cake Sale
A great day was had by all at this year’s Spring Plant and Cake Sale, which took place last Friday May 15th. A wonderful range of plants was on display and many gardening enthusiasts young and old came out on the day to support the event. A wonderful selection of delicacies was sold in the school halla and all the children enjoyed the event. A big thank you to all those who volunteered to help out on the day and to all those who donated plants and cakes. Thanks to the parents, grandparents, teachers, school staff and children for all the support.
Animal Magic have had to postpone due to unforeseen circumstances, they will reschedule before summer break. LSP.
Final Coffee Morning
There will be a final coffee morning of the year on Friday June 12th outside the staff room from 8.30-10.00 am; all are welcome for a free cup of tea/coffee and a chat with other parents
Talk to incoming Jnr Infants Class Parents
Last Monday evening the PTA chairperson, Pat, was involved, along with the Board Of Management Chair, Richard, the principle Orla and Jenni in giving a talk to the incoming Jnr infants class parents. Pat spoke on the value of the Parent Teacher Association in the school, how it operates, and spoke on the number of events that the PTA has carried out over the past year. He added that the committee is always interested in having new members and that there would be an opportunity to join the committee at the next AGM
The PTA constitution is now up online on school website. This is a working document which will be ratified at the AGM in September.
Second Level School – Expressions of Interest

Music of the Musicals Update
We will be asking parents to drop children to the foyer of the Lime Tree at 6.30 on both Tuesday 17th and Wednesday 18th February 2015.
They will be supervised in rooms backstage by school staff.
The show will start at 7pm and should be over by 9pm. The children can be collected backstage by parents after the Grand Finale when all the children will return to sing together as a whole school. Programmes and raffle tickets will be on sale in the foyer and at the interval. The winning tickets will be drawn at the end of the concert while members of staff are getting the children ready to go home. Prizes will be available for collection from the desk in the foyer of the Lime tree.
Don’t forget to bring all costume items in tomorrow.The photographer will be taking the photos for the programme of the show.

School Council News
The School Council are planning to run the Valentine’s Fair again this year. It will be held on Friday 13th from 8.30 to 10am. We will be asking pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th classes to provide buns or cakes for the cake sale. They can be decorated with hearts or anything else you like. There will be chocolate fountains, card making stalls and lots of other fun activities at good prices. The School Council will decide later today how to spend the money raised. Last year’s money went towards the school garden plots.

- Show Photographs
A photographer will be coming to the school on Friday morning, February 9th, to take photographs of each class in their costumes for the school show. The photographs will be in the programme for the “Magic of the Musicals” in the Limetree Theatre on the 17th and 18th of February. All children are asked bring in their white socks and black pumps and, where applicable, the t-shirt they will be wearing in the show.
- Coffee Morning, TOMORROW, Friday, Feb 6th, 8.30am, Outside the LSP Staff room. The PTA will host its next coffee morning on Friday Feb 6th at 8.30 am. Coffee mornings are open to the whole school community. It is a great opportunity to chat with other parents and also start your day with a nice cup of coffee or tea. This is a FREE event.
- Open Forum for Parents/Guardians, Feb 9th, 7-8pm, LSP Staffroom.
The PTA committee will hold an open meeting for parents/guardians at its next committee meeting on Monday the 9th of February in the staffroom of LSP, from 7 to 8pm. This is an opportunity for parents/guardians to bring an idea for an event, to raise/bring an issue they are concerned about, ask a question, or simply get to know the committee.
- RAFFLE PRIZES – Can you donate a prize for the raffle?
We are still looking for donations of prizes for the Raffle which will be held during the school show The Magic of the Musicals (Limetree Theatre, Feb 17th and 18th). We are asking parents do you have a business, or a connection which could donate to this raffle. E.g. a voucher, or an item, or a service etc. You or your business will be thanked on the night and in the show programme.

MINISTER JAN O’SULLIVAN VISIT ON MONDAY 9TH February
To mark the 25th anniversary of the school the Minister for Education Jan O’Sullivan will visit the school on Monday morning. Minister O’Sullivan will examine the contents of a time capsule that was buried 25 years ago by the first children in the Limerick School Project. Pupils, past and present, will mark the occasion in both song and word. If you would like to attend this momentous occasion please be in the school Halla by 9am.
