Election for Parental / Guardian Representatives for the New Board of Management.
The New LSP Board of Management will start on the 1st November 2015. The Board runs for a period of 4 Years. We are looking for a Female and a Male representative.
The election will be held on Thursday September 24th at 7pm during the Parent Teacher Association AGM. Only those in attendance can put themselves forward for election.
Only those in attendance can vote for the candidates.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
There will be no afterschool Art classes this term. They will resume after the Christmas holidays.
Chess classes have resumed on Wednesday afternoons, they will be held in Rang I classroom.
Mobile phones are not permitted in school. If you need to have a phone, you need to fill in application form available from the office. The phone must be kept switched off during school hours.
City of Limerick Pipe Band wish to recruit & train school children as future pipers & drummers. If interested a meeting will be held on Saturday next 12th September @ 12pm in CIE Club, Carey’s Road, Limerick (next building after the Cash & Carry building on the right going up Carey’s Road from the train station). LSP HELPING REFUGEES
LIMERICK TO CALAIS DONATIONS
The PTA and the school have organized for a drop off zone to be created in the school next week for donations of much needed items for the refugee camp in Calais, France. There will be posters up around the school giving details of times and dates and what specific items that are being looked for. Keep an eye out.
PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA) NEWS
The PTA held its first coffee morning of the new school year last Friday. The morning was geared towards the new cohort of parents that joined the school community this year so as to give them a space to chat and relax after dropping their children off. It was well attended and there was much coffee/tea drank and plenty of conversation was had. Look out in the Nuacht for the date of the next coffee morning.

LSP PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION AGM
The PTA is an important part of the structure of the school through which parents can work together for the best possible education for their children by engaging in building effective partnerships between home and school. The role and work of the committee is to manage the business of the PTA in accordance with the constitution of the PTA from one AGM to the next. Key to the work of the PTA is the concept of “Parental Involvement” – that is, at all times, and in all its affairs it seeks to create and strengthen links between the family home and the school by organizing events that bring both parents and children together. It also focuses on enhancing the extra-curricular education of the children by organizing numerous events, speakers and workshops across the year. Last year was a very busy and successful year. However, The PTA can’t function unless it has parents that will put themselves forward as a committee member or as a parent helper on the day of an event.
The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for Limerick School Project will be holding its annual AGM on Thursday 24th September 7pm in the school. At the AGM new committee members will be elected thus it is an opportunity for you to become part of the representative body for the parental community of the school and join in on the journey of enhancing the education and experiences of both the children and families that make up Limerick School Project Community
The work of the committee
The team has shared responsibility for:
Planning for the future and developing a vision for the PTA
Planning and managing the annual programme of activities for the PTA
Communicating, consulting with and involving as many parents as possible in the activities of the PTA
Communicating and consulting with the Principal and Board of Management
- Planning agendas and keeping records of meetings
Managing the PTA finances
Drawing up the constitution by which the PTA operates
Valuing diversity and inter- culturalism and making sure parents who might find it hard to get involved are encouraged and supported to do so
Commit to attending majority of the monthly meetings across the school year
Meetings to be held in evenings, second Monday month 7-9
To work as a team, to help plan and carry-out programme of activities/events.
