5th Class have been exploring the topic of the Great Famine through a range of engaging and thoughtful activities.
The students have expressed their understanding through art, reflected on the emotional impact of the time through music, including The Fields of Athenry, and developed their literacy skills by writing persuasive letters to Trevelyan.
It has been a powerful and meaningful unit of learning, encouraging empathy, critical thinking and a deeper understanding of an important period in Irish history.
