Senior Infants – 2D Shape Monsters!
This month in Senior Infants, maths and art came together in the most creative way! The children have been learning all about 2D shapes – circles, squares, rectangles and triangles – and they put their knowledge to the test by designing their very own Shape Monsters.
Each monster was built using a mix of colourful cut-out shapes, with eyes, teeth and other quirky features added to bring them to life. The classroom was soon full of friendly (and sometimes slightly scary!) creatures, each one completely unique.
The project was a wonderful example of how learning can be both fun and imaginative. The children not only practised recognising and using 2D shapes, but also got to showcase their artistic flair and creativity. Their finished Shape Monsters are now proudly displayed, brightening up the classroom walls and reminding us that maths really is everywhere—even in our monsters!
