Sixth Class – Pop Art Portraits
Sixth Class have been exploring the exciting world of Pop Art and learning all about the life and work of artist Roy Lichtenstein. Famous for his bold comic-book style and his use of the distinctive “Ben-Day dots,” Lichtenstein’s art captures the energy, fun and colour of the Pop Art movement.
Taking inspiration from his techniques, the pupils set out to create their very own dot-art portraits. They carefully built up their pictures using colour, pattern and repetition, experimenting with the same dotted effect that made Lichtenstein’s work so iconic. The process required patience and a keen eye for detail, but the results are truly outstanding.
Each portrait bursts with personality and creativity, reflecting not just the style of Pop Art but also the individuality of every pupil. Walking through the display feels like stepping into a vibrant gallery, where every piece tells its own story while still linking back to the bold, playful spirit of Lichtenstein.
This project was a wonderful way for Sixth Class to combine art history with hands-on creativity, and the finished portraits are a celebration of both skill and imagination. A huge well done to all the artists in Sixth Class—your work is simply amazing!
