Sport

Sport at Limerick School Project

At Limerick School Project, we believe that sport and physical activity are an essential part of every child's education. Through sport, children develop confidence, resilience, teamwork, leadership and a lifelong appreciation of healthy, active living.

We are proud of our strong sporting tradition and strive to ensure that every child has the opportunity to participate, develop skills and experience success, regardless of ability or experience.

Active Participation for All

Sport is for everyone at LSP. Throughout the year, pupils engage in a wide variety of physical activities through the Physical Education curriculum and extracurricular opportunities. Our aim is to foster a positive attitude towards movement and physical activity while helping children develop fundamental movement skills, coordination and confidence.

Pupils participate in activities including:

  • Athletics
  • Basketball
  • Gymnastics
  • Dance
  • Tennis
  • Cycling
  • Playground Games and Active Breaks

School Teams and Competitions

LSP pupils regularly represent the school in local and regional competitions. We take great pride in the enthusiasm, teamwork and sportsmanship displayed by our pupils whenever they wear the school colours.

Our pupils participate in a range of competitions and events throughout the year, including:

  • Athletics competitions
  • Basketball tournaments
  • Sports Day events
  • Community sporting initiatives

While we celebrate success and achievement, we place equal importance on participation, effort, respect and teamwork.

Active Schools

We are committed to promoting physical activity across the entire school community. Through Active Schools initiatives, movement breaks, playground activities and special events, we encourage children to be active every day.

Our annual Active Week provides opportunities for all pupils to experience new activities and work with specialist coaches in areas such as dance, tennis and gymnastics. These experiences help children discover new interests and build confidence in their abilities.

Sports Day

Sports Day is one of the highlights of the school year. Held annually at Mary Immaculate College, it provides pupils with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of athletic activities in a fun, inclusive and supportive environment. The day showcases the excellent teamwork, determination and positive spirit that characterise our school community.

Celebrating Achievement

We are always delighted to celebrate the achievements of our pupils, both within school and in their clubs and communities. Whether representing the school, county, province or national organisations, our pupils continue to inspire us through their commitment, dedication and sporting excellence.

We are equally proud of every child who takes part, tries their best, supports their teammates and embraces the values of fair play and respect.

Looking to the Future

As our school continues to grow, we remain committed to providing high-quality sporting opportunities for all pupils. Through investment in facilities, coaching opportunities and active learning experiences, we aim to nurture healthy, confident and active young people who will carry a love of sport and physical activity with them throughout their lives.
